Andrew Cox Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The pull-off top is shaped and beautifully pierced, with engraved detail and is part hallmarked. To the underside of the base is where the full set of clear hallmarks can be found along with the original pricked initials of the owner - a lovely connection to the past.

The stylish body has not been later embossed (as many 18th Century casters were) and the top is finished with a steeple finial. Examples from this period in this condition are widely sought after and are as decorative as they are practical.
