Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The fall front drops down to reveal pigeon holes and 8 small drawers to the interior. To the fall is an applied blind fretwork frieze and to the side are two heavy brass carry handles. It comes with 2 working keys, one which locks the fall and one which locks all of the drawers. A really good quality bureau and of a really good small size. Dating from circa 1800.

Good colour and patina. Old splits to the sides which have been filled with wax – structurally very solid and sturdy. Some old repairs to the feet. Some small old repairs to fall interior. Other wear and marks commensurate with age. Blemishes to top.
