Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An antique ladys dressing case, historically known as a vanity set or toilet service, is a fitted box containing jars, bottles, and grooming tools designed for travel and personal care during the 18th and 19th centuries.

These sets were typically constructed with leather or wooden exteriors, lined with silk or velvet interior padding, and housed glass bottles along with engine-turned silver, gilt, or brass fittings.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut glass bottles, maker stamps or hallmarks on metal lids, custom-tailored interior compartments, and period-accurate locks with age-appropriate surface patination.

Display the opened box on a vanity table, hallway sideboard, or shelving unit to serve as a decorative focal point and functional storage for jewellery or small objects.

Keep the case away from direct sunlight and heat sources, apply specialized conditioner to the leather exterior, and clean glass and metal components gently using a soft, dry cloth.
