~ French - Circa 1870 ~
~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~
Baroque in style with a goddess mask and hairy paw feet and mounted with exquisitely painted porcelain panels in the manner of Serves. The porcelain is signed to the reverse as you can see in the pictures below. Porcelain has a pompadour blue ground and is decorated with cherubs, exotic birds and floral panels.

The pretty dial is also porcelain with roman numerals and brass hands. The rear door is glazed to allow the movement to be seen. The clock stands on it's original gesso base.
The French movement is by Japy Freres and is of excellent quality. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is very good, clean and bright with some wear to the gilding. The porcelain is also very good with no chips or scratches, some very minor loss to the blue background in places. The over-glaze gilt decoration is also very good with just some minor wear. The base is in good condition, we have replaced the fabric. A beautifully decorative clock ready for you to display.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
