Georgian Mahogany Longcase Clock Martin of Totttenham, London.

18th century
Description

A high quality London Georgian mahogany longcase clock. Choice flame mahogany veneers to the case. An arched hood pediment flanked by two brass finials. Brass stopped fluted hood columns and side glass hood apertures. An arched trunk door and re-entrant base panel to the slim, well proportioned case. An arched brass and silvered dial with date and seconds indicators. A 5-pillar, 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell. Brass cased weights and a 'London' flat rod pendulum.

Jeremy Martin of Tottenham (High Cross, London) is recorded in Loomes' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working in 1780 and a clock noted.
