Hingstons of Wilton has dated this piece to the Regency era.
Here we have this impressive military chest that is fitted a fall-front writing desk.
Made in solid Camphor this 2 part chest would have been taken by an officer on campaign.

It is wonderful imagining what letters or commands that may have been drawn up behind this desk.

The chest has brass flush sunk handles and brass corners, these are screwed in rather than the normal way of being pinned.
The secretaire drawer front falls forward to reveal an arrangement of pigeon holes drawers and a central cupboard. The writing surface has been re-lined with baize.
