A Georgian mahogany secretaire bookcase from Narborough Hall, Norfolk. The arched cornice having several Sheraton oval inlays with Greek key and fluted decoration. The 2 thirteen pane astragal glazed doors with chevron style veneering and working lock and key. The bookcase interior with 2 mahogany adjustable shelves. The base in the guise of 5 drawers of which 2 form the wonderfully fitted secretaire, all the drawers and faux drawers retain the original brass swan neck handles and are graduated and cross banded with double boxwood and single ebony line stringing. The secretaire interior inlaid with ebony and boxwood chevron and an arrangement of ten drawers and pigeonholes with a small Sheraton inlaid door which opens to a drawer interior which when removed will allow access and removal of the 2 secret compartments.
