Rue des Fontenelles has dated this piece to the 1930s.
He married the artist Nelly Fernande Guiche in 1929. From 1940, during the invasion of Belgium he and his wife protected many Jewish children and in 1943 he was arrested an imprisoned in St Gilles and then later transported to Essen in Germany. After many transfers he was finally imprisoned at Bergen - Belsen. It is thought he died of exhaustion.

His work was more recently exhibited in 1993 at the Gallery of Municipal Credit.
