Fabulous large American sterling silver flower or Bride's basket by Gorham with sweeping flared body with nicely balanced sweeping foot. Superb pierced and engraved decoration of flowers and swirling foliage to the body and following up the large strap handle with classic art nouveau style. The inner rim of the body is reeded and there are stepped bands around the base of the foot and where the body and foot join. Fully marked to the base and with date cypher for 1915. A stunning piece, perfect for use now to display flowers, or to use as a fruit basket or for bread whilst entertaining.

It measures 17" high and 10" by 7 3/4" wide. It weighs 722g/23.2ozt. Condition is excellent: there is a very slight dint to a small section of the foot rim but otherwise no damage or dents and expected light surface wear from age and use.
