A top quality example of a general-purpose two-drawer side table/desk in mahogany. This stunning piece of cabinetmaking – attributable to the Rolls Royce of makers, Gillows of Lancaster – is comprised of an overhanging top with an 1.5” (38mm) high three-quarter gallery upstand, over two solid-oak-lined drawers with their original turned knob handles, all supported on beautifully turned and fluted leg supports. The finest quality timbers with an original untouched finish throughout have been used, having a deep, glowing patination. English, c.1825 – c.1850.
