A 1920s Phenix Superior pocket watch and chain.

The Phenix Watch Co SA was founded in Porrentruy in 1873 as Dubail, Monnin, Frossard & Cie. The company was the first Swiss watch manufacturer to register a movement calibre and they won a gold medal at the Paris Exposition in. The actual Phenix name came into being in the 1920s.

The watch has a 16-jewel stem-winding movement, signed Phenix, which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The watch has a galonne case which means it is made out of 800 silver with a rose gold wash around the bezel, the centre section and also around the edge of the case back. The case is in good condition and the engine turned detail to the back is still nice and crisp.

The watch glass has light marks but is very acceptable.

The dial is signed Phenix Superior. It is in lovely condition and the outer 24 hour dial is a nice feature.

The watch comes with a gold plated double albert, with each chain measuring 21cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.
