Born in 1706, John Stancliffe (I) worked at Lower Woodhead near Krumlin and Barkisland near Halifax and according to The Watchmakers & Clockmakers Book by Brian Loomes he also made clocks without a place name - as in the case of this clock. It is believed he was an apprentice to the Ogdens. Died 1780.
Medium Honey coloured Oak case with attractive figuring, Flush Fitting Full Length Trunk Door and unusually has beading around the 4 sides of the Hood Door rather than a pair of Columns. Well engraved Brass Dial with 9.5inch Chapter Ring and false date chapter window.
