A 19th Century Walnut Carved Tobacco Jar.

The lift off lid with a ball finial handle, above a slightly sloping surround, decorated with ring turning and chip carved chevrons. The body with bands of likewise chevron carving to the top and bottom, surrounding broad bands of hobnail carving, separated by a rounded central band. the tobacco jar standing on six small bun feet.

Date c 1840.

Height 9 inches, diameter 4 3/4 inches.
