An Antique Silver Zenith Pocket Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

An antique silver Zenith pocket watch.

The watch has a good quality 16 jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Zenith and it has a brevet (or patent) number 27541 which relates to a 1904 patent, applied for by Hermann Roost, for a cam disc regulator. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has details of various medals won and also details of the movement.

The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is 800 silver case (a purity often seen on Continental watches) with hints of the rose gold wash that it would originally have had.

The lens is in good order.

The signed dial is enamel. There is a chip just above the centre and a faint hairline crack between 10 and 11. The ornate hands are a charming feature of the watch and the style was popular in Scandinavia at the beginning of the 20th Century.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
