Collinge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Shaped arms with carved acanthus leaf detail, large sprung seat raised on turned legs with carved lion’s paw feet and a carved and pierced front stretcher. Excellent condition, the frames have been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Regarded as one of the greatest surviving medeival artworks and now to be found in the Musée de Cluny in Paris, the Lady & The Unicorn tapestries are interpreted as representing the five senses plus love. Each features the same noble lady, a pennant with three crescent moons, a unicorn and lion – both important heraldic symbols. They are believed to have been produced in Flanders around 1500 for a member of the French noble family of Le Viste whose arms feature in the designs.
