Rare Pair of Georgian Reverse Painted Glass Trencher Salts, Circa 1800

Description

These exquisite reverse painted glass trencher salts date circa 1800. They are very unusual and charming. The outer glass of canted rectangular form. The inner glass a very pleasing oval shape. The base reverse painted with a scene depicting a courting couple in 18th C. attire. The background, a rich cranberry red colour, is framed by a gilt border. The base with canted corners.

Dimensions:

Length: 7cm / 3 inches.

Width: 5cm / 1.6 inches.

Height: 2.5cm / 1 inch.

Condition:

Quite a few nibbles to the glass, commensurate with age. On one salt the red background has rather faded.

Postage UK: £8 Special Delivery Next day.

Postage overseas: £12 International Signed For.
