Arts & Crafts Carved Oak Box Settle C.1905.

1900 - 1920
Description

Edwardian Arts & Crafts style carved oak box settle or hall seat c.1905. Superb carved back panel merging stylised Art Nouveau influenced plant forms with the shape of a Gothic tracery windows. Over carved arms with scrolling supports and a lift up seat with lots of useful storage inside for shoes etc. The Arts and Crafts carving is repeated on the base panel whilst the stiles and plinth have a more traditional scrolling foliate detail. Original finish nicely worn through on the arms. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
