Description

A super original set of eight Art Nouveau dining chairs dating to c.1890. The pierced padded high backs with scrolling Celtic inspired carving, the seats upholstered in brown velvet and finished with brass studs. On turned tapering legs with brass and brown pottery castors to the front, and square tapering outsplayed legs to the rear.

All the chairs are in sturdy condition with no loose joints, there are some chips to the back corners and some marks to the seats. The oak table shown is not included but available separately at the time of listing.

When buying it is important appreciate antiques have long histories of daily use and as such, over time they gain minor scratches, marks, knocks, shrinkage splits, signs of old woodworm, lifts and losses to veneer, which combine with care and years of polishing to create an individual character and patina. We describe the main flaws and those that fall outside of this bracket but cannot describe each marks separately and therefore suggest you do take the time to request extra photos.
