An Extremely Rare Pair of Silver Cased Folding Scissors.

1900 - 1920
Description

An extremely rare pair of folding scissors in a hallmarked silver case. These unusual and collectable examples are probably for sewing and have an attaching ring to the top of the case, probably for a chatelaine. The silver case is hinged and opens to reveal the steel scissors which fold down. A desirable and sought after item.

Condition :- Very good. The scissors fold down pleasingly and have some age related scuff marks from use. The silver case has a couple of dimples, but closes well.

Hallmarks :- Soft but readable set to body and part marks to lid.

Date :- Birmingham 1922.

Maker :- Henry Charles Freeman.

Length :- 9.5 cms. (Case).

Width :- 4 cms. (scissors open).

Case depth :- 0.5 cms.
