A head and shoulders portrait of a gentleman seated,believed to be the British prime minister
Benjamin Disraeli British School (19th century) oil on canvas, housed in a fine gilt frame
size being 89cm by 68.5cm (35 inches x 27 inches approx)
overall size inc frame being 102 x 92 cm (40¼ x 36¼ inches approx)
The painting is generally in very good condition having had some restoration/repairs detailed below
there is a slight Stretcher shadow. Medium sized craquelure throughout.
Four patches to the reverse One behind the sitter''s head
to patch up a hole above his nose approximately 2cm in diameter,
a push mark to the front of his hair and a repair and scratch to the left of his head.
Repairs to his left (unbent arm) and within his cravatte area.
Retouching to the right of his nose and to his face.
There is a Push mark to upper right hand side (background).
Scratch approximately 30cm in length down the lower left hand side (background)
...r> and a number of smaller scratches to the bottom edge. Frame is in very good condition
The painting displays very well despite the above restoration
( which i have mentioned for accuracy) none of the above distracts from
this imposing portrait painted by an accomplished hand.
