Pair Large Leather Armchairs with Painted Lions C.1910.

1900 - 1920
Description

Extraordinary pair of large leather wingback armchairs c.1910. With original painted lions to the back of each. High Queen Anne shaped backs over wing sides, roll over arms with outward scrolling fronts and sprung seats with loose feather cushions. Further painted detail below the seats and raised on oak frames with turned front legs joined with serpentine shaped stretchers and ending in a carved tassel foot. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.

Unfortunately we have not been able to discover the story behind the chairs and their unusual decoration. If anyone out here can shed any light on them we’d love to know.
