Antique Express English Lever Silver Pocket Watch, H Samuel

1900 - 1920
Description

An antique “Express” English Lever pocket watch by J G Graves of Sheffield.

The watch has a key-winding movement which is working nicely. The signed movement is protected by a fitted inner cover. A winding key is included.

The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for Chester 1905 with a maker’s mark for J G Graves. There is a slight indentation to the back of the watch but other than that, the case is in good order. The inside of the case back has a previous owner’s details, P O’Donovan, Dowlais, Glam (Glamorgan), 1924.

The watch glass has a few small chips to the bevelled edge, the main flat surface looks good with just slight minor marks.

The signed white enamel dial is in good condition… there are three areas of nibbling on the very edge but theses are covered by the front cover.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
