Very Fine And Rare Japanese Arita Kakiemon Style Blue And White Moulded Ten Sided Dish, Circa 1680

For sale is this very fine and extremely rare Japanese Blue and White carved Arita 10 sided dish in the Kakiemon style, late 17th century. The dish with a diameter of 26.5cm and 4.2cm high is in original undamaged condition. The dark brown dressed rim with a couple of minute glaze flakes. The slightly raised well of the dish is divided into ten panels alternating with a design of vases with stylized decoration and then carved sections of foaming waves above a rocky outcrop. The reverse undecorated with 5 spur marks and underglaze blue shop mark within a double blue ring. For two dishes with similar foaming wave moulded or carved decoration please refer to Porcelain for Palaces by Ayers, Impey & Mallet pages 110 and 111 item no 61 and 64.
