Hand of Glory has dated this piece to the 1890s.
Henry William Batley was an interesting designer of the Aesthetic Movement.
He designed the interiors for Doulton’s terra-cotta house which was exhibited at the Paris Exhibition of 1878 and was awarded the Legion d’Honneur.
Condition: good colour, later metal plate strengtheners to the rear, one chipped lobe to the finial.
