Charming Early Emile Galle Faience Cat C.1885 Gr Mark Care Worn Looking for a Good Home Green Eyes 19thc Pottery

Charming Émile Gallé faience pottery cat decorated with a yellow ground and with blue and white abstract hearts and circles, his face set with bright green glass eyes. One of his earliest pieces it bears the Gallé Reinemer mark with the cross of Lorraine in between G and R to his rear left foot, dating to c.1885. He has clearly had a colourful life but still retains a lot of character and condition could of course be restored somewhat should you wish.

He measures 13" high and 6 1/2" by 5" wide and weighs a hefty 1.8kg. Condition details: there have been some body breaks and repairs across the shoulders and to his front left foot; these could clearly be re-done by a restorer for a much neater result. Otherwise there are patches of glaze loss all over, some of the larger patches with a little wear to the body underneath. I think he must have spent some time outside to explain the surface condition. Please view all of the photographs which show all angles.
