Pretty Victorian Silver Christening Mug Vacant Cartouche Gilt Interior London Edward & John Barnard

19th century
Description

Very pretty Victorian Christening mug with vacant cartouche to the front. Lovely bright cut engraved detail around the b ody, the top and bottom with beading. An ornate scrolled handle with moulded and engraved terminals and a feather scroll thumb rest. It retains its original gilt interior. Hallmarks area bit rubbed but I think the maker's mark is for Edward & John Barnard and dates for London c.1855-65.

It measures 3 3/8" high, and 4" by 2 5/8" wide. It weighs 141g/4.5ozt. Condition is excellent with no damage and very light surface wear bar the slight rubbing to the marks, nice and clean inside.

In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
