Impressive Early 19th Century French Mantle Clock

Description

An impressive and particularly fine quality early 19th century French marble and ormolu MANTLE CLOCK in superb original condition.

The case is predominantly of white marble and polished black marble, surmounted by an urn. The beautiful convex enamel dial (perfect condition) is flanked by ormolu mounts of classical maidens, with ormolu lyre finials, with an ormolu draped curtain frieze below.

The 8-day movement (just professionally cleaned) strikes hours and half-hours on a bell and retains its beautiful pierced ormolu pendulum with birds in flight, and wonderful ormolu hands. Gorgeous. 19.5ins high (max); just 3.8ins deep; 11ins wide (49.5 x 9.65 x 28cms)
