London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The needlepoint, drop-in seat is traditionally upholstered in a cream tapestry with a central heraldic shield motif.

Raised on three well turned, tapered columns between which a pair of vase shaped splats reside, the bowed armrest shows good grain detail and sweeps round into 'tankard rest' arm terminals. To the rear, the seat back features a shaped cresting for added comfort.

A generously deep seat rail cossets the seat pad and is raised on three, turned rear legs with a cabriole leg and pad foot to the fore. The legs united by a well executed 'X' frame stretcher, turned with central boxed joint and flared bulb detail where it meets the legs.

A fine example with good proportion, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
