Victorian Townshend & Co Brass Dinner Gong

Description

This beautifully made VICTORIAN BRASS DINNER GONG is stamped TOWNSHEND & Co, famous gong makers' from Birmingham. It dates from circa 1890.

The quality of the casting is notable. The stand and the outswept feet are designed as acanthus leaves held with a knot in the centre. The pattern is repeated on the back of the stand.

It gives a good, loud 'dong'.

Condition: Good

Height: 12 inches (30.5 cm)

Width: 9.75 inches (25 cm)

Depth: 5 inches (12.5 cm)
