Brass Mounted Stick Stand by Shoolbred & Co. C.1878.

Description

Splendid late 19th.c. brass mounted stick stand of a design recognized as being by the celebrated London maker’s James Shoolbred & Co. Superb quality and quite unusual being in walnut rather than oak. With a small shelf at the top with a brass gallery flanked with heavy brass finials over a stick or umbrella holder with original removable drip tray in the base. Further brass mounts to the back panel and raised on brass bracket feet. Unusually there is also a brass registration or lozenge badge to the front with the letter stamp D indicating the date 1878.

Dimensions: width 22", depth 10", height 39".

Superb quality and quite unusual being in walnut rather than oak. With a small shelf at the top with a brass gallery flanked with heavy brass finials over a stick or umbrella holder with original removable drip tray in the base. Further brass mounts to the back panel and raised on brass bracket feet. Unusually there is also a brass registration or lozenge badge to the front with the letter stamp D indicating the date 1878.
