London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Earlier than most examples of rush seated chairs of this type, this set is in splendid condition throughout and exhibit a sought after, aged patina in the French oak frames and rush seat pads that are in good condition throughout.
By contrast, the square section rear legs taper gently to the ground mirroring the tapered nature of the chair backs from a side on perspective.

The seat rails, serpentine in form support the rush seat frames that display the classic 1" radius at the front corners. The seat pads are in excellent condition and provide a comfortable seat.
The shaped seat backs rise into a sinuous domed crest rail featuring a carved central rosette and the dual rear splats complete the form these beautifully proportioned seats.

Solid joints and a fine set of chairs, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
