London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.
Elements of the piece are highlighted with boxwood and ebony stringing lifting detail and framing the glorious grain detail.

Raised on a plinth base, twin banks of four deep drawers, dressed with quality brass lion head pulls, flank the central kneehole. The kneehole backed by a cupboard with single shelf, enclosed behind a discreet door that features a central cartouche decorated with an heraldic eagle and shield in boxwood marquetry.

Above the kneehole, a single drawer with brass rosette pulls reveals an inset secretaire writing slope that elevates on an adjustable rack for comfort. To the side a series of compartments align before a removable pen tray. A small Tunbridgeware treen box a bonus within one compartment!

Above the slope drawer, a pair of document drawers with brass drop pulls complete the desk beneath the plinth surface displaying good grain detail framed with boxwood and ebony rope string edge detail.

Within the bookcase, three adjustable shelves offer generous storage behind a pair of astragal glazed doors that close to a solid brass reeded dust strip. The moulded cornice above features boxwood marquetry in the form of a classical tureen bringing balance to the entire piece.

A stunning bureau bookcase with fabulous patina and an asset to any study or drawing room. Delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
