Description

A large and impressive tapestry of the Duke of Wellington astride his favourite mount Copenhagen. Taken from a portrait entitled "Wellington on Copenhagen" by Thomas Lawrence, see last photo.

Copenhagen carried the Duke for 17 hours during the Battle of Waterloo. Immediately after the battle from which Wellington emerged uninjured. The Duke dismounted and patted his horse on his flank causing the horse to kick out narrowly missing the Duke's head.

Encased in a good quality cross banded mahogany frame and protected behind glass. Size - Width..39''/99cm. Height..48''/122cm. Depth..2.25''/6cm. Delivery to most of U.K. £35
