Antique Swedish Neoclassical Marquetry Front Gilt Mounted Cabinet

1900 - 1920
Description

This stunning antique Swedish cabinet looks just as good open or closed. I think it was designed to be used as a secretaire, because when the front flap is dropped down it could be used for writing on. This piece is smothered in wonderful marquetry of many exotic woods, plus well cast gilt mounts, escutcheons & feet. The marble top has a lovely colour & just lifts off. There is a single drawer at the top & three drawers below the flap. The flap pulls down to reveal a spectacular interior of small drawers & one cupboard. This piece has so many amazing features that I couldn't possibly describe them all, so please enlarge all the images to see for yourselves. The style is very much neoclassical & I would date it to around the 1920-30's period.

Width - 34", 87 cm

Depth - 17", 43 cm

Height - 46.5", 118 cm

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
