Gents 1940s Rotary Bumper Automatic Wrist Watch

Description

Gents 1940s Rotary bumper automatic wrist watch.

The watch has a Swiss bumper automatic movement, with 15 jewels, which is working well. Early automatic watches such as this one relied on the rotor ‘bumping’ between two springs to maintain the power within the movement.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is plated with a stainless steel case back. There is a little wear to the plate, mainly to the top lugs where it has rubbed on a sleeve.

The lens is in good order.

The dial is signed Rotary, Never Wind, Non Magnetic. It is in its original finish and there are a few little marks but all acceptable for a 1940s piece. The hands appear to be the originals, as does the red centre seconds hand.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
