Silver Porringer Rare Footed Lid. London 1917 By Johnson Walker (njl10183)

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Woodbridge Antiques

A superb, and rare, solid silver Porringer and lid in the style of Charles II.

The bowl shape of the porringer is beautifully decorated around the base with maple leaf design. Either side there are two very attractive ''scroll style'' handles. The bowl sits on a nice solid circular base. Crisp hallmarks: London 1917 along with maker''s mark: Johnson Walker, are clearly visible at the top near the handle.

The lid of the porringer makes it a rare item. Unusually designed with three protruding feet, each foot is in the shape of an upturned leaf which sit on a maple leaf decoration. This lid, when turned upside down, acts as a perfect stand for the porringer. The same hallmarks and maker''s marks are also clearly visible on the top of the lid. A superb piece.
