Exceptional Pair of Carved Walnut Armchairs C.1840.

Description

Exceptional pair of large mid 19th.c. high back open armchairs c.1840. Superbly carved walnut frames with grotesque masks to the tops of the arms and scrolling acanthus leaf terminals. Raised on turned legs and stretchers with claw feet and an intricately carved and pierced front stretcher. Generously proportioned sprung seat and backrest in black velvet. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops and freshly reupholstered.
