An excellent solid sterling silver aide-memoire or carnet de bal/dance card.
 
Gilded throughout, the carnet is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1901, with the maker''s mark of Henry Charles Freeman.
 
The pencil (with lead) is placed to hold the carnet closed - the hinge on the top springs open when the pencil is removed. There is a pad of paper inside.
