Description

Gorgeous little silver snuff box with red guilloche enamel to the top and sides, and gilt lined inside. Made by Austrian silversmith Georg Adam Scheid, well known for the quality of his enameled pieces, this one has full German import marks with confirmation the piece is 900 standard to lid and base.

It measures 6cm by 3.7cm wide and 1.5cm high and weighs 55g. Condition is good with no dents but there is a small patch of damage to the enamel at the back by the hinge (it isn't a loss as such, it appears to have thinned, possibly by heat damage) which is a shame but cannot be seen from usual angles so doesn't detract from display. Otherwise, light external surface wear, the inner gilding is perfect and the clasp closes crisply.
