Description

A WW1 silver Marvin trench watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is working well and the time keeping is good to within around five minutes or so over 24 hours. The watch has a semi-hermetic case whereby the movement comes out through the front of the case.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and is hallmarked for Glasgow 1915 with an importer’s mark for the Glasgow based silversmith and importer James Weir. The case has a couple of light scratches to the back but overall is in very nice condition for such an early piece.

The watch glass has light surface marks but is very acceptable.

The white enamel dial is in good condition with just a little paint loss to the numbers, and a little of the infill has come out of the hands.

The watch has an antique leather strap, probably the original, and it is showing signs of wear and tear. We can fit a new leather strap if required.
