The beam balance and fittings are in brass, with a copper covered lead pan on one side and a white china platter in the other, this has the name John A Gilbert and Co and is most likely the shop which it was made for and it weighs up to 14lb

The scale is 49” high and 33” wide, the ceramic plate is 13” in diameter
