Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Carolean Revival furniture draws inspiration from late 17th-century English designs produced during the reign of King Charles II. It is characterised by tall, prominent backrests, ornate scrollwork, richly carved framework, and elaborate front stretchers connecting turned legs.

Solid hardwoods such as walnut and oak were predominantly used for their density and ability to hold fine carved detailing. Upholstery usually consisted of woven damask, velvet, or needlepoint textiles secured with traditional brass tacks or welted trim.

Authentic late 19th-century pieces feature hand-finished wood joinery such as mortise and tenon joints, subtle irregularities in hand-carved elements, and natural timber oxidisation on untreated undersides. Modern reproductions often show uniform machine-cut edges and synthetic adhesives.

A carved high-backed chair functions effectively as a statement feature when paired with modern, minimalist architecture. Placing it in an entrance hall, reading corner, or study balances modern lines with historical texture and architectural interest.

Dust the timber regularly using a soft, lint-free cloth and apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the wood moisture. Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to avoid timber shrinkage or fabric fading.
