This 19th century giltwood overmantel wall mirror is all hand carved and water gilded in a 24 ct gold leaf as opposed to being gold overpainted or finished as oil gilding.. This is the more desirable carved wood mirror rather than their inferior plaster counterparts which were pour moulded by the thousands. These are one-offs and were usually commissioned by discerning private clients. This piece retains the original silver backed mirror plate. Excellent condition. Circa 1830.
