This is a Georgian Press for Linen, Maps or Books
The press dates from around 1780, this is a very heavy piece and it was usual for presses such as this to be used to press clothes, but as this one is so heavy, it may be because it was used for Map or Book binding

The Press is very sound, the original handle is missing and it has had a few repairs carried out on it over the years
The overall height is 5ft, higher if the screw is raised, the table is 35” wide and 23” deep
