This is exceptional quality with the gilding being water gilding in 24ct gold leaf onto solid carved wood, rather than the inferior models which are parcel gilt onto plaster/composition. The top having a swan neck pediment; with egg and dart detailing and two trailing oak leaf carved side details interspersed with acorns. The top and base having solid carved acanthus leaf detailing. This is a much deeper model than other inferior comparable models. The glass plate is original with some small areas of foxing but is not detrimental to the piece. The English walnut a rich mellow colour. Excellent condition.
