Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The dish stands on four decorative legs terminating with a very regal ball and claw foot.
When the knob at the front is pushed back the dome revolves to reveal the two trays below. These are perfect on a buffet to serve either hot (with hot water beneath) or cold (with crushed ice below) dishes; a very impressive addition to any occasion.

The underside is fully marked for the silversmith, Spurrier and Co. of London and Birmingham.
Excellent condition. The handles span 14" across, the rim of the dish measuring 10 1/2" x 8 1/2"; standing approximately 8" tall to top of dome.
