Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This is a very bright and colourful piece, the Drum stand is made in a heavy wood, with carved dragons at the top and embossed and relief painted with chrysanthemums in all manner of colours on the Traditional Red Background, for Luck and Good Fortune

The drum sits in a tall 2 piece stand which is simple to take apart and reassemble, this in very much in the nature of Chinese musical instruments
The gong has minor chipping to the painted stand but not enough to detract from the beauty of the piece, the drum skins are tight and sound, all in all a great piece
The diameter of the drum is 22” and the fully assembled stand is 60” high, 24” deep and 47” wide
