Late 18th Century Marquetry-inlaid Satinwood Oval Caddy

Description

A really lovely late 18th century inlaid satinwood TEA CADDY of desirable oval form.

Beautifully veneered in finely-figured satinwood, with kingwood cross-banding, the lid is inlaid with an oval marquetry panel of a basket of fruit.

Both the front and the back are inlaid with harewood swags and flower-heads, whilst the base features a complicated border of hexagonal motifs. Inner lid; original lead lining and original working key. A good caddy.
