Christian Davies Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1880s.
Drawers two and three having a false front and open to reveal a birds eye maple fitted secretaire interior. Each of the drawer fronts constructed from the finest figured mahogany and retaining their original turned mahogany drawer pulls. Having rounded quarter columns and solid mahogany sides, the whole supported on a rounded cornered mahogany plinth. The wellington chest having an unusual triple locking mechanism and the use of Hobbs & Co locks further emphasises the quality of this piece. English circa 1870-1880
