Large Pair of Late C19th Italian Wooden 'Faux Marble' Obelisks.

Large pair of late C19th Italian wooden 'faux marble' obelisks. Highly-decorative pair of Italian-made obelisks of impressive scale , painted to simulate much-prized Lapis lazuli stone. Mounted on 5 gilded spheres , the tapering obelisks stand upon plinth bases with simulated Rosso marble slips and bases. Gilt-wood mouldings and gilded edges to obelisks.

Both the faux marble decoration and gilding have been skilfully finished and aged , to replicate a pair of extremely valuable and rare late C17th or early C18th Venetian obelisks .

In excellent condition with only very minor chips to paint .

Decorated all around, of free-standing form.
